Email Strategist

As an email strategist, you will be responsible for developing detailed strategic roadmaps and operational blueprints to transform our clients’ email campaigns into high-ROI world-class email programs. You will be working on everything from testing and journey development to insight generation and presentation. Strategists collaborate with account and analytics teams to assure a deep understanding of campaign objectives to ensure recommendations are valuable and relevant. Not only will you design programs and testing frameworks, but you will also have the opportunity to work directly with clients and vendors to implement the resulting strategies. Our ideal candidate is comfortable both working with large email programs, relational databases, testing methodologies and distilling and communicating insights derived from data.

  • Developing custom blueprints to answer key business questions
  • Working closely with Account Directors to manage client testing roadmaps
  • Write POVs around complex email marketing programs and 3rd party add-ons
  • Understand relational databases and how to work with them
  • Create and manage email database segments
  • Managing complex dynamic Excel and Tableau reports and ensuring flawless day to day reporting
  • Fully understanding the goals of email marketing programs in order to generate and communicate clear, compelling and actionable insights
  • Quickly understand how to use third-party platforms and analytics tools, and quickly convey the distilled pros/cons + LoE to a client
  • Ensuring that presentations and recommendations are delivered to clients in a timely manner
  • Responding proactively to requests from clients and internal teams
  • Providing constructive feedback to continuously improve processes
  • Provide on-job training to more junior employees and interns
  • Presenting to clients during monthly and weekly phone calls
  • BA/BS in Marketing, Statistics, Engineering, Finance, Information Management, Social Science or Business/Marketing related fields
  • A strong desire to learn and passion for both marketing and analytics
  • Ability to manage and prioritize a number of concurrent tasks while maintaining a high level of attention to detail
  • Experience with large email marketing programs
  • Ability to clearly explain complex technical ideas to multiple audiences both verbally and in writing
  • Strong ability to work well with others and work in cross functional teams
  • Advanced skills in Excel and the use of equations and pivot tables, some experience writing macros preferred
  • Advanced skills in PowerPoint
  • Strong knowledge of email and digital marketing

Helpful Skills
  • Vendor/Partner Relationship Management
  • Expertise with SQL, Tableau and/or Birst
  • Familiarity with web technologies including HTML and Javascript
  • Experience with web analytics tools (Google Analytics, Omniture, etc)
  • Experience with email marketing tools (Marketo, MailChimp, Eloqua, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, etc)
  • Experience working with large data sets
  • 5-8 years of Email Marketing experience preferred
