What I Learned This Summer – An Intern’s Perspective on Email Marketing

My time here at Trendline went by way too fast. I am grateful for the people I worked with and learned from. I came into Trendline as an individual who knew little about email marketing programs but am leaving as a new man. I would like to personally thank every member of the Trendline family for helping me out and look forward to working with them again in the future.  Usually when people leave they receive a “going away present” but I’m going to do the opposite by giving a going-away present in lieu to me returning to my Senior Year studies (Fist Pump) at the University of Texas …. my list of 10 rules for Email Marketing programs. 1.Attention to detail There is a little room for errors in email marketing. A Interview with Craig Swerdloff from LeadSpend.

"I like cool people....and cool people like me" - Anonymous I have spent the last 12 or so years meeting people in this email industry and sometimes your run across a successful person with a great personality and the brains to back it all up with.  I met Craig a couple of years ago over email (where else) and immediately like the guy.  He is smart, gracious and most of all a guy I am honored to call a colleague of mine.  He is one of the founders of LeadSpend, a data insights company in NYC and I am really impressed with some of the stuff that they are doing. I was excited to get as much as possible from this experience but I was also hoping to make an impact here at Trendline and be of value to the company.  In the past three months I've done a great amount of research that has been used for larger projects within the company. I've been helping with the behind the scenes work and it reminded me how important it is to not forget about the little things and have a strong foundation behind anything you do. At the beginning of my summer the first thing I noticed was all the innovation around email marketing. A few things that stood out to me included the rapid integration of Pinterest, the mobile first movement, and the increased use of...

Interesting Pictograph In An Email Subject Line

There have been plenty of articles and posts around the use of pictographs (also reffered to as symbols, characters, emoticons, etc...) in email.  Some are calling it a fad and others are saying it boosts engagement rates, but to me the jury is still out on these things.  That said, I was reviewing my email this morning and noticed an interesting symbol from BJ's Member Services.  It did catch my eye as opposed to the plane or sun or something else.  Granted..its eye candy, but thought I would share. What are you thoughts? ...
