Three Standout Subject Lines (and More!) from My Inbox This Weekend

My inbox this past weekend was an interesting one. It had 3 standout subject lines and one very compelling, well-messaged piece of creative. Tastefully Suggestive Tasting Table was able to use a rather suggestive and well known saying to push an article about our love for skewering meals. It caught my attention not only for its uniqueness, but also its ability to put a slant on something that people might normally find boring.   Pictograph Me Like It's 2012 The New York Times used a pictograph in its subject line that caught my eye. I wonder if NYT or anyone else has seen a sustainable impact in their engagement through the use of these things. While the debut of pictographs in subject lines dates back to 2011 or so, it seems that some organizations are still using them. CURVE Maximized Back in 2013, Alex Williams wrote about his CURVE theory on writing subject lines. This one from Orbitz certainly uses both Curiosity and Emotion for me. The Interns Speak!

The Interns Speak!

Before spending the summer at Trendline Interactive, email was just another mundane part of life: One more thing to check on the bus after Facebook and Instagram. Neither of us thought about the process behind email or the goals it was trying to achieve (even if we occasionally couldn’t resist clicking through to check out that sale). However, after only a few months of learning, we now approach emails and email marketing from a completely different perspective, thanks to the knowledge shared by the awesome people and company culture of Trendline, who answered our questions — on everything from industry jargon to how to operate complex data collection systems — and welcomed us into the company. In the following, you’ll find a rundown of our summer highlights.   Sonali Arora, Data Analytics Intern My main goals during this internship was to learn as much as possible and meaningfully contribute to the company while learning things I can’t learn in a classroom. Trendline definitely...

Trendline Interactive Records Highest Client Satisfaction Among Email Agencies

Trendline Interactive is a proud participant in the first ever Email Marketing Agency Buyer’s Guide, published by The Relevancy Group (TRG). As a researcher myself, I was impressed by the measures taken to ensure the report was both fair and accurate. (Free Download Below) Most comparative evaluations of agencies come down to a few key things that are very tangible: How many clients does the agency have? What is the concentration of their clients? (i.e., industry focus, size of clients, marquee brands, etc.) How many employees does the agency have? And what do the agency financials look like? TRG went well beyond these basic facts by including client interviews, an industry survey, extensive questionnaires completed by each agency, and a small RFP with a comprehensive pitch to the new non-profit foundation A Chance in the World™. While I am proud to say that Trendline Interactive was included in the “Leader's Ring,” I am even more proud of our client satisfaction scores. In the report,...
